AirTraf 1.0 Capabilities
AirTraf is a feature rich wireless network monitoring and management application. Below are some of AirTraf's impressive capabilities:
  • Captures and analyzes all detected 802.11b packets determining the type of packet (management, control, or data) as well as determining higher level protocol information.
  • Performs bandwidth utilization calculations.
  • Determines signal strength of the wireless nodes.
  • Dynamically finds all access points in range and associates received packets with specific access points.
  • Determines the SSID of all access points and other relevant information including the channel in use, traffic load, etc.
  • AirTraf is database aware therefore multiple sensors can relay their data to a centrally accessible database and this data can be assembled into trend reports and further analyzed.
  • AirTraf tracks access related activity such as probe, authentication, and association requests by wireless nodes and listens for the access points' response in order to determine the possible nature of the activity, whether it be friendly or hostile.
